Ahm’s secondment experience:

  • Why did you decide to go on a secondment?

In my opinion, secondment is a potential way to reach out a wider community both in academics and companies. This direct involvement in the community contribute to extend achieving knowledge and expertise in more practical ways. Considering such issues, I decided to go on a secondment.

  • What are the main research topics that you worked on during your secondment?

During the secondment, my main research topic was in cleantech, where various technologies were studied to promote cleaner environment. Additionally, I was involved in studying to identify necessary skills gaps to promote green innovation and sustainable cities and adopting essential academic initiatives to fill such gaps.

  • Why did you decide to visit RMIT EU?

My aims to visit RMIT EU were multifold. In one sense, my aim was to build network with the research staff there with the hope for the opportunity to potential joint research projects and publications within my research interests. At the same occasion, my intention was to know the various past and current research facilities there to enrich my knowledge and understanding on my research areas.

  • What was the most valuable thing you took from your secondment?

In my opinion, the most valuable thing I took from this secondment is to know multi-dimensional research facilities at RMIT EU and matching those with my specific research focus.

  • Why would you recommend to go on secondment?

Secondment is an excellent way not only to conduct extensive research works and expanding professional networks but also to know about new society, environment, and culture, which are also valuable enablers to establish sustainable environment and society.
