About the OpenInnoTrain project

The objective of OpenInnoTrain is to form an international and inter-sectoral network of organisations working on the joint research field of Open Innovation (OI), University-Industry Cooperation (UIC) and Research Translation (RT) in the four contemporary areas of FinTech, Industry 4.0, CleanTech, FoodTech.

Through the mobility (secondments) enabled by the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (MSCA-RISE) scheme, staff from participating organisations will develop new skills, be able to challenge the status-quo by being exposed to a new environment and thus have their career perspectives widened.

Such mobility will support academic staff in progressing within a dynamic globalized world while keeping pace with technology changes both in research and practice. At the same time, advances in knowledge exchange across sectors and countries will have potential market opportunities for non-academic participants.

The Open Innovation paradigm focuses on how innovation does not occur in isolation but it’s the outcome of an open process of collaboration involving multiple actors in the conversion of research insights (such as academic publications) into research outcomes (such as new or improved products or services). Such translation is what can ultimately generate an impact for research in society. The perspective of Research Translation in the specific setting of University-Industry Collaboration can contribute towards a better understanding of knowledge conversion processes. OpenInnotrain aims at this and also at developing robust Research Translation tools for the translation of multidisciplinary research results.
