Seconded from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Spain) to Technology Centre Merinova Oy (Finland)

Mariana's thesis is on the valorization of brines from seawater desalination recovering valuable minerals and metals. To achieve this goal, she works with technologies such as nanofiltration, electrodialysis with bipolar membranes and ion exchange resins.
