D1.2 Agendas and Reports on Summer Schools on Open Innovation, UIC and RT

As a H2020 funded project under the “Excellence in Research” pillar, OpenInnoTrain develops cutting- edge scientific knowledge across disciplinary fields, and in particular contributing to the technology and innovation management discipline. Focusing on the intersection of open innovation, university- industry cooperation and research translation, the Summer Schools capture some of the scientific developments of the project, convert them into actionable knowledge and ensure their dissemination within and beyond the consortium. This deliverable provides an overview of the first summer school, its agenda and content, as well as feedback mechanisms put in place to increase its incisiveness for future editions. With a typical length of 4 to 5 days, summer schools primarily target the training and upskilling of Early Stage Researchers (ESRs), informing them about recent research developments, providing them with key tools and resources for their research career, giving them the opportunity to exchange and learn from experienced researchers and professionals and, hence, build their network.

The first OpenInnoTrain Summer School (2021) consisted in a five-day online programme on Research Impact, organised by RMIT University and RMIT Europe (from Monday 17th to Friday 21st May 2021). The school was organised with sessions distributed in five main areas each day (scoping, identifying, mapping, engaging, tracking). This Summer School aimed to provide an understanding about the established research pathways for conducting and delivering impactful research and to understand how to implement the tools and techniques required for generating impact through research. The program was delivered to a wide range of academic and industry audience across multiple countries.
