Maciej's work in combustion engine domain accounts for experimental studies, developing combustion/engine models and further applying them to combustion concept design and engine control endeavours.

His current research focus is on low-temperature combustion, with gas-diesel dual fuel systems in particular.

His secondary interests concentrate on alternative fuels for combustion engine applications. Here, particular interests oscillate around various liquid biofuels, pyrolytic oils, and (bio) methanol.
